I use all mild steel and I use only 14 guage steel for helms and 16 or 18 gauge for other items (at the preference of the buyer) I generally will not work in stainless steel, due to the expense and the wear and tear on my tools. The quality of the armour I make (or lack thereof, depending on your opinion) should be fairly easy to see from the pictures. Not to worry though... I have been a successful armourer for about the past 10 years or so and have sold hundreds of items with no complaints...
